Newsletter privacy

Effective

This notice explains how Anne Spalter handles information for her studio newsletter.

What you sign up for

Personal updates from Anne about her work, exhibitions, and studio, sent about once a month. Subscription is optional. You can withdraw your consent through the unsubscribe link in every letter.

The information we keep

We keep your email address, your name if you provide it, your subscription status, and records of your consent and requests. We also keep delivery information, such as a failed delivery or a spam complaint, to avoid sending unwanted email.

If your subscription came from Mailchimp, we preserve the original contact details and available permission history. A record without enough permission evidence is held out of newsletter delivery.

How we use it

We use this information to confirm your subscription, deliver the newsletter, manage your preferences, and respond to privacy requests. We use your consent to send the newsletter. We keep limited records needed to honor your choices, maintain service security, and meet legal obligations.

We do not sell newsletter information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Newsletter messages contain no open-tracking pixels or tracking redirects on links. The websites you choose to visit have their own privacy practices.

Website visits and browser privacy signals

The signup and privacy pages use first-party website statistics. These include the page visited, browser or device category, referring site, and a daily changing visitor identifier derived from network and browser information. These statistics are not joined to your newsletter profile. Confirmation and unsubscribe links are excluded from this pageview logging.

The newsletter feature does not track your browsing across other websites. It does not change its behavior in response to a browser Do Not Track signal. These newsletter pages do not load advertising trackers or third-party social embeds. Visiting an external link follows that website's practices. Loading an email image can share network information with its image host, depending on your email app.

Service providers and international processing

Fly.io hosts this website. AgentMail is the proposed newsletter delivery provider. New subscriptions are temporarily unavailable while the remaining delivery and privacy checks are completed.

The delivery provider would receive your email address, message content, and delivery information. AgentMail’s public terms permit using email content to improve its services, including AI training. Anne permits this use of her authored newsletter content. How recipient personal information is handled, including privacy rights and international processing, is still under review before subscriptions open. Processing may take place in the United States or where providers operate. See AgentMail's privacy policy for its public processing practices.

How long we keep it

We keep active subscription information while you subscribe. Confirmation links expire after 48 hours. Unconfirmed website signups have their personal details removed after 30 days. Completed delivery payloads are minimized after 30 days, and webhook event identifiers are removed after one year. Website visit records are kept for 180 days; their daily identifier salts are removed after 14 days. These limits are applied during routine maintenance. If you unsubscribe, we retain a limited record to prevent future unwanted mail.

A verified erasure request first removes personal contact details from the active newsletter database and stops future delivery. This does not automatically delete copies held by the email provider or in private archives. We track the required follow-up before marking the full request complete. A minimal, one-way suppression reference can remain to prevent an old export from subscribing you again. Database backups are kept for 30 days. Original contact exports are kept for 90 days after an accepted migration, with a maximum of 180 days from export. A documented legal hold or unresolved verified privacy request can extend that period. Removing data from private exports and backups requires an operator review; these copies are not used to send newsletters.

The email provider's retention of messages, attachments, logs, and backups must be established through the applicable agreement. Provider deletion and any permitted exceptions need a separate review; deleting a site contact alone does not complete that process. We will not claim full erasure until the required provider and archive follow-up is verified.

Consent evidence is normally kept while you subscribe and for three years after the last marketing message or withdrawal, subject to verified rights requests and annual review. Contacts held for missing permission evidence must be resolved or erased within 90 days of cutover. Minimal suppression references remain while an old list or backup could reintroduce an address, with annual review.

Your choices and rights

Use the unsubscribe link in any letter to stop future newsletters. No account or login is needed. You can also ask to access, correct, export, or delete your newsletter information, or object to or restrict its use where those rights apply.

Send a request to anne@annespalter.com. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity. You may use an authorized agent where permitted. We do not discriminate against people who exercise their privacy rights.

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may complain to your local data protection authority. Other rights depend on the laws that apply to you and this newsletter.
